The book “Juan Shu Zhai Yao” (Summary of Eagle Claw Boxing) is written by Grandmaster Chen Zizheng of Yingzhao Fanzimen (dictated by the master and edited by Liu Fengchi).  The book is divided into four sessions. The first session is called Waijiaquan (External Boxing, including twenty-five ways of boxing), and the second session is called Neijiaquan (Internal Boxing, including twenty-three methods of boxing), the third session is about body strengthening (including twelve kinds of exercises), and the fourth session is Liuhe Lihua Daqiang (including twenty-four methods of spear). Sessions 1 and 2 are the main objects of explanation in this book.

What is the meaning behind the term "external boxing" in the first session and the "internal boxing" in the second session of the book? We must understand the two words "external and internal". The word "external" here refers to the combating technique of entering the enemy from the outer gate, with the concept of taking the initiative; or the technique of attacking the opponent's middle gate from the outer gate. The word "internal" highlights the idea of protective defend, or how to enter the enemy's inner gate to attack.

The contents of the first and second sessions are exactly the prototype of “Lian Quan Wu Shi Lu” (50 sets of Boxing) in Eagle Claw Fanzimen. Master Chen Zizheng’s technical experience of the 108 techniques of his sect’s Golden Hands found that the movements and techniques of the Golden Hands are repetitive, which often makes practitioners confused in learning, and also disrupts the practitioners’ thinking of applying techniques, which caused problems in inheritance and teaching. Therefore, the master reorganized the 108 Golden Hands techniques, eliminating the unnecessary and retaining the essentials, and became the “Lian Quan Wu Shi Lu” (50 sets of Boxing) that has been passed down to this day. The “Juan Shu Zhai Yao” is a transitional version in the process of reorganization. Although it is not perfect, the content is of high-level. It is so thorough that later generations will benefit a lot from it.

The contents of “Juan Shu Zhai Yao” are only textual explanations. Readers must have practiced the Eagle Claw Fanzimen boxing technique before they can follow the instructions and understand what is said in the book. In order to allow readers to find the fun of martial arts from the book, each boxing technique in the book has been re-photographed and the application of the techniques has been dismantled and explained, so that readers can easily master the training methods of each boxing and the techniques of Eagle Claw Fanzimen.
